SanDisk Adds Cruzer Mini USB Flash Drives to Low-Cost Shoot & Store Line for the Food & Drug Retail ChanneSanDisk(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:SNDK) today
announced the addition of a 32-megabyte(1) (MB) Cruzer(TM) Mini USB 2.0 flash
drive into its Shoot & Store(TM) line of low-cost flash storage products
sold through the food and drug store channel. The Cruzer Mini in this channel
highlights the growing utility and demand for easily storing, transferring and
accessing a variety of digital files.
"USB flash drives are essential for transporting
personal computer data files, image files or video and audio between home,
office, school and other locations," said Kent Perry, retail product manager of
the Shoot & Store line. "Once you use them, they become an indispensable
tool for which there is no good
substitute."
Nelson Chan, executive vice president and general manager, consumer & handset business at SanDisk, said, "The fact that we're offering USB flash drives in the food and drug channel at this low price-point highlights how mainstream digital technology has become in consumers' lives. SanDisk is broadening its Shoot & Store line from consumable digital film cards to encompass the Cruzer Mini line in order to reach a new segment of consumers -- such as seniors, teens and women -- that we do not currently reach with our traditional consumer electronics channels." The Cruzer Mini easily slips into a pocket or purse or can be worn around the neck for easy carrying. It includes a protective end-cap that fits over the large LED status indicator and the USB connector. Cruzer Mini's thin shape allows it to be plugged in without blocking other USB ports. When the device is properly inserted, a large LED lights up to indicate its status. Cruzer Mini is "plug-and-play" with PCs and the Macintosh due to USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) compliance when used with Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS 9.2.1+ and Mac OS 10.1.2+. A driver can be downloaded for Windows 98SE support. The 32MB Shoot & Store Cruzer Mini is available in June with the suggested retail price of $12.99. SanDisk is the original inventor of flash storage cards and is the world's largest supplier of flash data storage card products using its patented, high-density flash memory and controller technology.
