Flexo for sheet-fed offset printers

Sheet-fed offset printers can print wet glue and paper wraparound labels but are not able to respond to their customers demand when they move into self adhesive and film wraparounds. One such company, after investigating the options available, chose a flexo solution from Edale.

With a price tag of half the investment the un-named printer originally expected to spend on a fully servo flexo press, the Edale machine was said to be an obvious choice. This is a Beta 330 eight colour, fully UV flexo press with features for printing front and back in one operation

"We have seen an enormous increase in enquiries and orders from sheet offset printers who are forced to move into flexo and web production," says Edale's Bernhard Grob. "Besides the need to move from sheet to web there is also the need to rationalize and automate to regain lost margins and to remain profitable. By printing front and back, UV varnishing, hot or cold foiling, laminating and finishing in reel or sheet - all in one operation - all objectives are achieved, with JIT delivery as a further by-product of this investment."
