Samsung says flash demand stronger than expected
South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. said on
Wednesday demand for flash memory chips was stronger than expected and played
down market concerns over a steep price
fall.
Global chip makers are spending
heavily to boost capacity and that has triggered a sharp price fall in flash
memory, used in products such as digital cameras, music players and cell phones,
casting a shadow over Samsung's profits in the second quarter.
