What's Next for Digital Cameras? I have noticed that over the past year or two not much has happened to digital cameras, except that a couple of obvious roadblocks have been plowed into. The top of the list is Sony's diminutive 8-megapixel sensor, which has been getting a lukewarm reception for producing flat-looking pictures. Most of the camera makers did something weird by simultaneously introducing the next generation of cameras with 7.1MP, thus going down in pixel count for the first time ever.
