Press Release: DELKIN DEVICES® INTRODUCES eFilm® ARCHIVAL GOLD “100 YEAR” DVD-R

July 22, 2005 Poway, CA— Delkin Devices, Inc., maker of premium quality eFilm memory cards and other innovative digital photography products, today introduced the long anticipated DVD-R addition to the popular eFilm Archival Gold media line. The eFilm Archival Gold DVD-R is now shipping to distributors and resellers all over the world.

"Camera stores and mini-labs have been clamoring for museum quality media with the higher storage capacity of a DVD-R from the moment we introduced the eFilm Archival Gold CD-R,” explains Martin Wood, CEO of Delkin Devices, Inc. "There were many technical difficulties to overcome in developing a DVD-R that could withstand the rigorous accelerated aging tests required to meet our Archival Gold standard. Now photographers working with the larger file sizes of today’s DSLRs have a reliable storage media for their work and precious memories.”

The innovative materials and manufacturing methods used to produce eFilm Archival Gold DVD-R's make them among the most reliable storage media available. Other DVD-R's may deteriorate quickly due to common environmental factors: ultraviolet light, heat, and humidity. Results of an accelerated aging process used to test the longevity of DVD-R media show eFilm Archival Gold DVD-R's may safely store images for more than 100 years. This longevity test was conducted in accordance with ISO 18927-2002 guidelines.

A key component of Archival Gold DVD-R’s durability is the use of gold in the reflective layer of the disc. Gold is one of the most inert, reflective (and expensive) elements on earth, which makes it perfect to resist the effects of temperature and humidity. These characteristics prevent oxidation, a common cause of failure to most CD-Rs. Thirty percent of Delkin’s cost to produce every eFilm Archival Gold disc is due to the use of 24 karat gold.

"People used to save their photos in family albums and store their negatives in a safe place for reprints," says Wood. "In the digital age, people store their photos on their computer. With the volatility of computer hard drives and the constant threat of virus attacks, we wanted to provide consumers with the most reliable storage media available to back up their images. Our eFilm Archival Gold DVD-R's will be a perfect companion to our DVD BurnAway as well. The combination gives consumers a reliable storage device and media without the use of a computer."

Delkin begins shipping eFilm Archival Gold DVD-R's today. All DVD-R versions of the Archival Gold line have an attractive packaging design easily distinguishable from the existing Archival Gold CD-R and Inkjet products. The DVD-R 10 Pack is sold in a protective plastic case that holds 10 DVD-R's in polypropylene sleeves (MSRP $29.99).
