Press Release: Canon PIXMA MP150 printer

Canon, a leader in photographic and imaging technology, today announces the launch of a new photolab multifunctional, the Canon PIXMA MP150. Replacing the popular PIXMA MP110, this model offers designer styling, high-speed and superb quality photo printing, plus scanning and colour copying in a single compact unit. With 2 picolitre droplet 4800 x 1200 dpi performance from FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print heads, the PIXMA MP150 produces photolab quality prints direct from PictBridge compatible digital still and digital video cameras. This 3-In-One ‘Scan-Copy-Print’ multifunctionals also features fast 10 x 15cm photolab quality borderless photo prints in approx. 55 seconds.

PIXMA MP150 - More for less
Other features of the Canon PIXMA MP150 are long life fade-resistant photo prints with Canon’s ChromaLife100 system, fast copying: 22cpm mono and 17cpm colour and full colour 1200 x 2400dpi high resolution flatbed scanner. “This Canon PIXMA multifunctional represents the convergence of many of Canon’s core technology competencies,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “It offers remarkable speed, quality, functionality and performance for this price point."

Canon - Fine personal photolab
Canon's patented FINE semi-conductor manufacturing technique has been used to create print heads with exceptionally high nozzle density and 10m Micro-Nozzle diameters, delivering ink droplets with unrivalled speed, reliability, consistency and accuracy. With increases to the number of Micro Nozzles and print head lengths, the multifunctional now delivers millions of 2 picolitre ink droplets each second to produce a 10 x 15cm photo print in approx. 55 seconds, 36% faster than the models they replace. It can print borderless photos up to A4 size. Virtually grain free, the print quality is comparable to that of traditional silver halide prints. FINE also delivers super fast, high quality document printing.

PIXMA - Stand-alone photo printing
Photo Index Sheets – (automatically generated tick-the-box memory card summary pages) simplify photo and media selection when printing straight from memory card. Images can also be enhanced without resorting to the PC: face brightener enhances images by compensating for backlight conditions and red eye correction automatically detects and corrects red eyes caused by flash reflection.

ChromaLife100 - Quality that lasts
For improved fade resistance, the printers support Canon’s new ChromaLife100: a system of genuine Canon dye-based inks, which deliver exceptionally broad colour gamut, and specialised photo paper designed to work together with FINE print heads. This technology ‘triangle’ of nozzle design, ink and media produces prints that rival silver halide quality and longevity. Prints resist fading for 100 years when album-stored, 30 years when displayed under glass and 10 years when exposed to the effects of the air.

Canon PIXMA MP150 - Copying and Scanning
The increase in Micro-Nozzle numbers responsible for the high print speeds also translates directly to fast 22cpm mono and 17cpm colour copy speeds. The PIXMA MP150 multifunctional includes fit-to-page copying. Borderless copies and prints are possible in A4, 13 x 18cm, 10 x 15cm and credit card size formats. Canon’s own scanner technology features in the Canon MP150, providing high quality scans at 1200 x 2400dpi resolution. An advanced Z-lid improves scan and copy quality of thick books and magazines by applying even pressure across the entire document. For optimum results, multiple areas in a single file can be selected and scanned with different settings. A range of image correction features are included in the MP150, including fading correction, reduction of dust and scratches, grain correction, unsharp mask and descreen, which reduces moiré effect.

Canon MP150 - Multiscan
Multi Scan saves time by scanning up to 10 photos in a single pass and saving them as separate files, automatically deskewing to correct tilted images. Also aiding workflow is the scanning direct to PDF (Portable Document Format) option, which creates PDFs from originals without the use of conversion software. Pages are easily ordered and can be readily added to PDF files previously created with MP Navigator. Featuring automatic OCR (Optical Character Recognition), text is embedded into the PDF file for convenient searching.

Canon PIXMA software - MP Navigator 2.0 and Easy-PhotoPrint
MP Navigator 2.0 helps users get immediate optimum results with minimum fuss. Users simply select the required process and desired output. Version 2.0 features: improved PDF functionality; improved zoom window for scanned images; additional buttons and controls for greater usability; and options to scan from colour magazines or film. Easy-PhotoPrint provides three easy steps to printing photos, assisting with media selection, scaling and photo effects.

PIXMA software - Easy-WebPrint, ScanSoft OmniPage SE and Arcsoft PhotoStudio
Easy-WebPrint (Windows only) sits on the Internet Explorer toolbar to simplify web page printing. ScanSoft OmniPage SE is a powerful Optical Character Recognition application that scans text for conversion into recognisable text characters/data for editing. Saves time and increases productivity by quickly turning PDF files and stacks of paper into word processing and spreadsheet documents. Arcsoft PhotoStudio is an image-editing program featuring automatic colour and tone enhancement, cloning, animated 3D text and over 40 special effects. The Canon PIXMA MP150 multifunctional is compatible with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, and Mac OSX v10.2.4 or later.
