Press Release: Strike a Balance Between Workplace Legalities &
Realities
SGIA Web conference focuses on personnel policies that protect,
strengthen and work for your business.
Fairfax, Virginia ˜ In its newest Web
conference, "Avoid Legal Snares: Employee Handbooks & Hiring" (December 6,
2005; 11:00 amˆNoon EST), SGIA covers the legal issues employers must
address as they hire staff and create personnel policies.
"When you don't understand the nuances of
employment laws and regulations, you open the business up to liability issues,
including lawsuits," said SGIA Government Affairs Associate Danielle Waterfield,
Esq., who will lead the conference.
"This Web
conference will cover issues as essential as what an employer can and cannot ask
during a job interview, and what belongs in a well-crafted employee handbook.
We're also supplying sample verbiage for job offer letters, employment
applications and affirming the 'at-will' status of an
employee."
SGIA has obtained approval for
continuing education credits for this session for use towards PHR and SPHR
recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute, and every
session participant will receive a certificate of
completion.
As with all SGIA Web
conferences, one registration fee covers training for as many staff as can
access a single computer and phone line. Register online at SGIA.org or call
888.385.3588; cost is $79 ($149
non-members).
