Sanyo Vietnam to triple digital camera exports


Japanese electronics maker Sanyo Electric Co. plans to triple exports of the digital cameras made at its plant in southern Vietnam to 3 million next year, local media reported Wednesday.

The Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper quoted the company's Vietnam branch as saying its plant at the Bien Hoa Industrial Park outside Ho Chi Minh City would make 1 million digital cameras this year, all of them for export.

The $30-million plant would produce 5 million digital cameras by 2007, the newspaper said.
