Dell Offers $99 Laser Printer

Dell Inc. introduced Tuesday a laser printer priced under $100 -- its latest effort to undercut market leader Hewlett-Packard Co. in the lucrative imaging and printing business. The Dell Laser Printer 1100 will retail for $99 and is targeted at home users and small businesses looking for a cheaper, smaller alternative to its existing line up. The cut-rate machine prints slower and has fewer features than Dell's next cheapest model, which costs $199 before rebates. According to Round Rock, Texas-based Dell, the new machine is equipped with a starter toner cartridge that can print up to 1,000 pages and replacement cartridges will cost $65 and print up to 2,000 pages.
